Making contact and beginning therapy
To begin with, please contact me and we can arrange an initial meeting at either my room in Harberton, Totnes or in Gandy Street, Exeter. We can then talk about the issues or difficulties that you would want to bring to therapy, and see whether it feels right to begin.
My rooms are private and everything that you discuss is completely confidential.
Psychotherapy sessions last for an hour and are usually weekly. Weekly sessions help create a sense of safety and continuity of support and along with adequate time and space, allow you the opportunity to truly work with whatever you bring to therapy.
If we decide to go ahead, then I ask you to commit initially for 6 sessions of weekly therapy so that you can begin to experience how it may help. After this time we can review how it has gone, and if it feels right we can continue for as long as you need.
Psychotherapy can be short or long term; short term can be similar to counselling and is most often beneficial for focussing on specific issues or problems. Longer term work allows people the time and space to work at greater depth, and receive on-going support.
The full fee for an hourly session is £45 which is average for an experienced psychotherapist in the local area. I am committed to offering some concessionary spaces for people unable to meet the full fee, so please speak with me about this.
